Passenger, Pre/Post-Flight

GoogleApple150x150px Google Now update provides direct link to boarding passes, initially compatible with UnitedI recently wrote about how Google Now augmented my travel experience while overseas in Dubai and how it integrates with my flight plans. This week, Google Now has received an update that further integrates the service with the passenger experience by directly linking to boarding passes.

Much like Apple’s Passbook application, the new Google Now update prompts the user when the flight time is approaching, and makes it that much easier to access the boarding pass.

The update launches with compatibility on United Airlines, but Google says more airlines are coming soon.

This move shows that Google is ready and willing to compete head-to-head with Apple in the airline space. While Apple certainly has a head-start on Google with Passbook, Google should be able to catch up rather quickly.
